{OOC}
This is the permissions list for OOC (out of character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired.

Backtagging: Backtagging is fantastic. As long as there is mutual interest and the thread hasn't gone stale, I'm all for backtagging until completion.
Threadhopping: I'm okay with this, as long as there is a reason for it or if it's specified as welcome. If anything, contact me beforehand and we can discuss it.
Fourthwalling: Yes.
Canon puncture: Yes.

{IC}
This is the permissions list for IC (in-character), activity.
Answer the following questions with "yes" or "no", as well as additional information if desired. With IC permissions, it's a good idea to elaborate on what other players can expect from your character if they choose to do any of the following:

Hugging this character: This is fine.
Kissing this character: You can try but receptiveness will depend upon CR.
Flirting with this character: Go for it.
Fighting with this character: Yes. Keep in mind that he's a super solider, so his abilities are enhanced in comparison to the average human.
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Superficial wounds are fine. Anything more than that requires discussion.
Killing this character: This also requires discussion.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: This is fine as well. Specific limits would be on a case-by-case basis.

Character Information:
Name: Steve Rogers (Captain America)
Canon: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Canon Point: The Avengers, post Battle of New York
Age: 25 (93, if we’re going to be technical)
Reference: Steve, Captain America: The First Avenger, The Avengers

Setting: The Marvel Cinematic Universe is not much different from the one we know to be reality, but one of the most important things to keep in mind is that there are is life beyond Earth. The nine realms from Norse Mythology are an actual reality; Earth doubles as Midgard and the likes of Thor, Odin, and Loki reside in Asgard. Much like Ásgarðr in Norse Mythology, the Marvel Asgard is the location of Valhalla and the Einherjar who serve Odin. Asgard acts as a peace-keeper between the nine realms. The Aesir were venerated gods for Ancient Scandinavian people, but by the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, they were cast aside as legend. This was disproven in certain circles, such as when Schmidt obtained one of Odin's treasures, the Tesseract, in Norway during WWII, and when Thor himself visited Midgard in 2011.

World history is mostly the same as our own. For example, George Washington was still the first president of the United States, World War I broke out not long after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and Germany and the Soviet Union still invaded Poland in September 1939.

The differences begin in the 1930s. Hitler and his top officials used Norse-Germanic myth to propagate National Socialist ideology. While the intent was only for the sake of propaganda, there was a sect within the German military that took the mythology as fact. This division, known as HYDRA, was headed by Johann Schmidt aka the Red Skull. Dr Arnim Zola was the lead scientist within HYDRA, whose current research was using the power of the Tesseract to further HYDRA's goals for world domination.

HYDRA undermined the orders of the Führer and acted independently through the course of the war. Ultimately, HYDRA becomes more of a threat than the regular German forces.

On the side of the Allied Forces, there was S.S.R., or the Strategic Scientific Reserve. Prominent figures associated with the SSR included the likes of Howard Stark, the founder of Stark Industries and the father of Tony Stark (Iron Man), Agent Peggy Carter, and Colonel Chester Phillips. There was also Dr Abraham Erskine, who developed the serum that both the Red Skull and Steve took.

The elimination of HYDRA by combined forces of the S.S.R. and Howling Commandos ensured an allied victory in the European theatre. The price paid was not only Bucky's life (his left arm, memories, and autonomy if we want to get technical), but Steve's as well. Technically, neither of them died. Bucky became a brainwashed master weapon for the Soviet Union's Red Room and Steve was frozen after crashing Schmidt's plane in the North Atlantic, kept alive by the serum.

The world Steve woke to was completely different from the one he knew, which was understandable considering it had been about seventy years. The people he knew were dead, and those who were not, he didn't call. Technology was even more advanced, which says a lot considering flying cars were in development in 1943. Stark Industries was still at the forefront of technological advancement, of course.

S.H.I.E.L.D. replaced the S.S.R. although the function was essentially the same. It was Director Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. who brought Steve up to speed after he awoke. He is also the one who formed the Avengers, which included Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Thor, and the Hulk. The death of Agent Phil Coulson prior to the Battle of New York (2012) - which was a literal alien invasion led by Thor's brother, Loki - was ultimately what forced Steve and Tony to cooperate with one another to make an efficient team.

Part of Manhattan ended up being destroyed as a result of the battle, but the Chitauri aliens and Loki were defeated, and a sense of camaraderie between the Avengers formed.

Notable characters:

Bucky Barnes: Steve's best friend and sergeant in the 107th Infantry. Currently classified MIA after falling out of a train.

Peggy Carter: Agent 13. Extremely capable and efficient, she played an integral role in both S.S.R. and S.H.I.E.L.D.

Tony Stark: Howard Stark's son and Iron Man. He's a genius and affluent, and while he's an important part of the Avengers, his ego makes him hard to tolerate.

Thor: Asgardian prince and warrior. He's a killer of giants and a defender of Midgard and mankind, aided by his hammer Mjölnir.

Natasha Romanoff: aka Black Widow. Former Russian spy, she works for S.H.I.E.L.D. She's talented in both espionage and hand-to-hand combat.

Clint Barton: aka Hawkeye. He's an extremely talented marksman with a bow and arrow.

Dr Bruce Banner: aka the Hulk. He's a genius scientist who tried replicating the serum in Steve's DNA. The became the Hulk after an unfortunate incident involving too much gamma radiation.

Personality: Steve Rogers has all the traits one would expect a superhero dubbed "Captain America" would have. He is a genuinely good and honest person who is instilled with the traditional values that were prevalent in the early twentieth century.

He knows what it's like to have it rough and he knows what it's like to not get one's way. Growing up, Steve was small, easily looked over, and had a list of health conditions a mile long. This put him in a disadvantage in a number of ways— it made it all the more easy for other people to beat him up (though he did give them plenty of reason to, and never backed down from confrontation), and it made being able to enlist in the military impossible. These two things would have most people wanting to avoid conflict and be grateful that their lives were spared. This wasn't the case with Steve; he was and is the type to stand up for what he believes in and to stick up for the underdog. Even when the odds are completely against him and he'll undoubtedly be beaten, he refuses to back down. In this regard, Steve is uncompromising, and he firmly believes that standing up to bullies is one of the most important things someone can do for themselves and anyone else. After all, if you give in and let them walk all over you, that won't ever stop. It's better to be beaten up time and time again, knowing that he stood up to them.

This belief carried over into attempts to get into military. He didn't meet the health requirements to be able to enlist, but repeatedly tried to get in at different enlistment centres using different information, just in case someone would let him slide past. His moral obligation to get do something more to contribute to the war effort while other men laid down their lives outweighed any concern about getting caught trying to enlist under false information, as that was extremely illegal. It worked out that his determination caught Dr Erskine's attention— this was what allowed him to enlist and eventually become a lab experiment. He willingly underwent the procedure despite the pain and uncertainties that came from it. It was a success, and Steve's health conditions were not only no longer an issue, but he became taller, stronger, and everything necessary to be a super soldier. The change in appearance did not change who he was; in personality and ideologically, he was the same person before and after. Because he was good, the serum made him better.

As Captain America, Steve is a strong leader who is able to rally his comrades and build solidarity. He doesn't consider himself above anyone else. Despite his status as a captain and a super soldier, he still considers himself the same person as he was when back living back in Brooklyn. It's not his prerogative to convince someone else that he's the most capable man for the job. In fact, he's so down to earth that he's more likely to just hope that he is so he doesn't let anyone down.

Teamwork and friendship are two things he highly values and there probably isn't a better person than Steve to have your back; he will do whatever it takes to protect the people he cares about, and even complete strangers. His dedication and the tendency for his actions to speak louder than words contributes to it being easy for many people to believe in and follow him. He is also strong in his convictions; he might not often discuss it but he is a Christian and even after meeting a demi-god, he remains strong in his faith.

By no means is Steve invincible or perfect; he is capable of receiving injury and making mistakes. His personal failures are things that affect him greatly. The apparent death of his best friend something that he won't ever forgive himself for. It doesn't matter how anyone tries to twist that around; he failed Bucky and if only he'd done more. While that's a guilt he carries with him, the anger from losing his best friend is enough to change his entire stance on what he wants to do during the war. He goes from not wanting to kill anyone to being determined to avenge Bucky until every member of Hydra is dead or captured.

On interpersonal levels, Steve sometimes lacks social graces. For a long time, he didn't know how to talk to women, and that often led to Steve stumbling over his words and putting his foot in his mouth, especially where Peggy was concerned. Considering how long he's been defrosted, this likely hasn't changed much, but it also isn't a high-ranking priority at all. He is sometimes a little thick-headed, and is unable to pick up on certain cues, which gets him into some trouble (then again, does any man really know what goes on in a woman's head anyway?). At the same, he's not completely clueless. He's a grown man and a soldier; he knows how things work.

Despite his bravery on the field, women are completely intimidating. It's always been better to simply not bother, because even something as simple as asking a woman to dance is far too terrifying, so he'd rather wait for the 'right partner.' It's still weird to be on anyone's radar at all.

In regard to finding out on a giant turtle, Steve would keep himself collected as much as possible. It would really end up being further proof that he's still capable of being surprised. He'll be fascinated and determined to learn everything he can about this place and beliefs of the kedan, since they're rather different from the Christian doctrine. Overall, Steve's capable of adjusting quickly, so he would at least externally react to everything thing well enough and be willing to help fight the M-monster when the time comes.

Appearance:

Abilities: The Super Serum incorporated into Steve's DNA grants him superhuman abilities. He has a faster metabolism than the average human. Steve is also faster, stronger, and more durable. He can run fast enough to keep up with a moving car and swim fast enough with a submarine. (Both of these vehicles being of 1940s standard, however.)

He has had basic military training and knows how to operate various military grade weapons. In the case that he's unfamiliar with a particular weapon or technology, he can quickly learn how to efficiently operate it. He's particularly talented at using a shield or any similar object, and would likely grab for something of that nature before any other weapon. Prior to joining the army, he frequently engaged in back alley fights (which he lost), and Bucky taught him boxing. Combined with that knowledge and that of the enhanced body and military training, Steve can typically hold his own and be a formidable force.

However, Steve is still human and thus, mortal. He might have the ability to endure more and heal more quickly, but he's still capable of dying.

He's also a talented artist, capable of accurate renditions of his surroundings or objects of his imagination when given a pencil and paper.

Inventory:
- one brown leather jacket
- one blue flannel shirt
- one white undershirt
- one pair of khakis
- one pair of shoes
- one wallet with identification and about $20 in cash

basically, his outfit from the motorcycle scene, minus the motorcycle.

Suite: I would like Steve to have a one floor suite in the Earth sector. He doesn't need a lot of space and would likely be most comfortable among those in Earth sector; they seem to be the most like-minded.

In-Character Samples:
Third Person: Steve wasn't sure what was stranger; seeing how much the New York had changed, or how much it had remained the same. The differences definitely outweighed the sameness; it was bigger, brighter, more populated than he thought possible. It said a lot, considering how crowded the city'd been when he was growing up. Sometimes he stumbled upon the more familiar parts of the city. He didn't intentionally seek them out, not anymore. Instead, the nostalgia crept up on him.

This place used to a drug store, the alley doesn't exist anymore but I got beat up right over there, and so on.

It happened frequently enough, but he'd at least gotten past the waking confusion of forgetting what year it was. Every now and then it still happened, but it was always an unpleasant way to start the day. Steve knew he shouldn't live in the past, that he should try to find a way to move on. There was a difference in theory and practise, however. How could he just move on? The time he knew was decades ago for everyone else around him. The era of their parents or grandparents.

But it was his life. 1943 still felt like yesterday. It felt like it'd only been weeks since he lost his best friend, who was possibly the only person that understood him. Everyone else was gone too. Except Peggy. But Steve wasn't even sure what to say to her, so he simply hadn't called. He would at some point, probably, along with some corny and depressing line about being seventy years too late for their date.

The idea of moving on at all was a bit terrifying. He would, and he had, for the good of humanity. He had a new team. Steve didn't know them well, and one of them was particularly annoying, but their combined proved to be effective. There was a future there, but if he let go of the past it would be like losing some integral part of himself.

If he wasn't careful, his thoughts and emotions would get the better of him. That was the last thing he wanted. Steve needed to be clear-headed as much as possible. It had its benefits, though, in that he forced it all into submission by taking his frustrations out on his poor punching bag.

Even now, each punch was a release of negative emotion. Sadness, loneliness, anger, guilt. He kept at it, punch after punch, resetting the bag each time he tore it down. It was cathartic, and that was as much as he could ask for.

Network:

[He needs to stop thinking that he's incapable of being surprised. By the end of the Battle of New York, Steve thought he had seen it all. Insane technology, other worlds, aliens... What else could there possibly be?

The answer, of course, is a giant turtle in a realm outside the continuity of time. He had a long chat about nearly everything with the locals that helped him earlier, but it's still crazy, and he probably wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't seen some of the turtle shell himself.

Yet here he is. It'll probably all sink in over time; Steve's been overloaded with so much information over the past few hours and it's exhausting, even for him.

Getting on the computer hadn't been his top priority, but he's already gone outside of his new home and back. Steve's experienced enough culture shock for today. He might as well at least reach out and introduce himself to all of the other people who wound up here like him.

Once he's got the computer up and running, he accesses the network using the video function. He looks a little stiff and probably as exhausted as he feels, but that's the least of his concerns right now.]

Hello. My name's Steve Rogers. The kedin- kedan? - brought me up to speed already, but I only just arrived here a few hours ago.

[Maybe longer than that. He hasn't exactly been keeping track of time. In any case, it's really jarring to be talking to a computer screen and not actually know who's on the other end.]

I have a couple questions that I'd like to have verified. [It doesn't necessarily mean he'll believe whatever he's told, but second opinions are typically useful.] We're all more or less stuck on this turtle, right? But there's a way back.

[That's a question as well, but it ends up sounding more like a statement. It sounds like a reasonable assumption. There obviously isn't a rush since no time is passing back home; he just wants to know.]

The other question I have is about jobs. Since it looks like I'll be here awhile, I'll start looking soon. Does anyone know which places are hiring offhand?

[He pauses for a moment before adding a 'thank you.']
